Microsoft ආයතනය මුලින්මOS එක ලෙස MS DOS (Disk Operating System) එක දැකිය හැක.මෙයට Command Line Interface එකක් ඇති අතර අදාල Command ලබා දිය යුතු වෙ. Hard Disk එක තුල ඇති ‍File බැලිම සදහා DIR Command එක බාවිතා කරන අතර screen එක clear කිරිමට CIS ආදි වසයෙන් Command 300ට අදික ප්‍රමානයක් බාවිතා කර ඇත.

 

Microsoft සමාගම විසින් 1990 දි ඔවුන්ගෙ 1වෙනි Graphical Al User Interface එක එහි OS එකක් වන Windows 3.0 OS එක Graphical ආකාරය්න් දක්වා තිබිමයි.මෙහිදි Mouse එක බාවිතා කරමින් අදාල Graphic Icon Cick  කරමින් Command Type කිරිමෙන් තොරව කාර්යන් සිදු කර ගත හැක.මෙය සරල ක්‍රමයක් වන බැවින් Users ලා අතර ඉතා ජනප්ප්‍රිය විය. 1995 අගොස්තු මාසයේ Microsoft ලාගෙ සාර්තක  GUI එකක් සහිත Operating System එකක් වන Windows 95 බිහි විය.1998 මැයි මාසයේ Windows 98 ද 2000 වර්ශයේ  පෙබරවාරි වල Windows 2000 න් ද 2001 ඔක්තොබර් මාසයේ Windows XP ද හදුන්වා දෙන ලදි. Windows XP හොද GUI එකක් සහිතව ලොව ඉතා ජනප්ප්‍රිය වු Operating System එකක් බවට පත් විය.
